Joe Morello, of The Dave Brubeck Quartet, passed away today at the age of 82. While 82 years is a long time, it’s also far too short a time. I will never be able to listen to Take Five without thinking of my friend who insists that she counts it in 4. ;-) That’s how swinging and smooth Joe’s odd times were: they didn’t feel odd at all. Thinking of Joe today.

Hypaspace is going to be recording a new project very soon, and I need some new sounds so I just placed an order for some new Stagg cymbals. Nothing too crazy; I’ll be getting 16″ and 17″ DH Exo Medium Thin Crashes, 12″ Black Metal Rock Hats, (2) 6″ DH Medium Splashes, and a 6″ DH Light Bell. I’ll post a review and videos when they come in.
